Healing Expectations

Healing Expectations

Recently, I’ve been guided to work on healing expectations in any form, both in my inner and outer worlds. This is perfect timing because as the time to post this month’s blog drew nearer and nearer, I realized I have certain expectations about what I write and how it affects readers. I have attachments to the messages being meaningful and useful for everyone. I’m attached to finishing them within a certain time frame. And I have a desire for each one to have a certain polish and verbal flare! As I rolled all of these self-imposed limitations around in my head, the inspiration came to me: “Be honest about what you’re feeling and share that.” So, polished or not, here goes.

Many of you may relate to the needs and desires to give a good “performance” or “product”, even a spiritual one such as helping others to heal. Sometimes our expectations are applied to something created in the outer world such as an event, a job or even simply our words and actions. Sometimes our expectations get applied to our inner reality, such as wanting to feel differently about something and being frustrated with ourselves when we’re not ready to make the shift or wishing we were at a different place in our spiritual evolution. Wherever we might apply expectations, whatever form they may take, whether consciously or subconsciously, whether directed outwardly toward others or inwardly toward ourselves, they are simply forms of judgment blocking us from experiencing Unconditional Love and knowing ourselves as unlimited, as Source.

I’m still in process with these expectation pieces myself, so I can only share some suggestions from my soul for my next steps in the healing process. I am being guided to work with the resonance of Divine Humor. This energy feels like being able to gently laugh with myself when I take a misstep or experience results that weren’t part of my initial plan. I also heard to expand with Divine Generosity, as in being generous and forgiving with myself as much as others. And the third resonance that came to me is Divine Willingness to Receive, open and willing to receive the abundance and grace of the unexpected. These are just a few, but it’s a start. Some of these may speak to you as resonances you’re also guided to work with or your soul may recommend a completely different list. Whatever your guidance and wherever you are with your journey, just know that we are all walking the path of our spiritual evolution together, and it’s perfectly divine for each of us to do it in our uniquely unexpected way.
