Father John LaFarge once remarked, “For those who believe in God no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe in God no explanation is possible.”
I’ve always loved this quote about faith. Faith is not something logical we can explain to anyone nor is it something we can talk ourselves into. It is not something we can pass along to another and it is not about following doctrine. At times, we may be guided to act on faith but we cannot do faith as an action step to make faith happen for us or anyone else.
Divine Faith is a state of being which comes from within. It is a deeply heart-centered understanding of ourselves and all beings as Source. For most of us, it will take time to expand to that level of consciousness and the best approach is to love and allow ourselves with as much patience as we need to grow into our full faith.
So, be at peace and go gently forward as you move into Divine Faith. Give yourself space to more fully remember yourself as Source and support yourself in ways that will help you stay in the resonances of peace, calm, patience, understanding and trust. A soothing bubble bath, a soft chant or a walk in the sunshine may not seem directly related to practicing faith, but they might each be the perfect way to help you hold the wisdom that you are divine and that all is well and in perfect divine order.

Studies show that many people slow down or even stop altogether on progress toward their New Year’s goals by February. We might feel stuck or over-whelmed or just fall back into the comfort of the familiar and routine, even if those habits don’t serve us well. I’ve been reviewing areas that feel stuck in my own healing intentions for this year and one big message came up for me – part of me doesn’t want to heal because of fears of the power and responsibility in fully healing myself. This is good news because having identified the piece, I can now focus on what I need to do to clear it.
When we think of blocks to healing ourselves, many of us immediately think of issues like lack of worthiness, feeling loveable and blocks to accepting help or care for ourselves. It can be more challenging to identify power issues related to healing because the mental body often doesn’t make that connection as easily. And for many Lightworkers, there are layers of fear, guilt or shame over misuse of power or lifetimes of being abused by power. But when we stop to consider it, fully healing ourselves requires us to access and be willing to use divine power confidently, masterfully and free of fear.
So, if you are feeling stuck in your own healing process, you might consider asking your Soul whether blocks to power are part of the issue and which specific blocks you need to clear. Some possible questions to ask your Soul might be:
What is my level of commitment to healing myself?
What is my level of belief in my ability to heal myself?
How on track am I to heal myself on this issue? (name whichever issue you are working on)
How on target am I to heal myself on this issue? (name whichever issue you are working on)
What is my level of willingness to use my Divine Power in my process to heal this issue?
These are just starter questions to help you get a sense of where you may need to focus. Of course, always follow your guidance on where you should be focusing your energy and which action steps to follow next.
You are masters who are just in the processing of remembering and experiencing yourselves in that way. You can and will heal yourselves! You’ve already chosen to heal at the Soul level. The only question is when and which steps you’ll be taking to get there. There aren’t even prizes for being first across the finish line because everyone is moving in their perfect divine timing. Have faith in yourselves and be thorough in your healing work. You will get there and all that will matter will be the experiences and wisdom you gained along the way.

What is blocking you from surrendering to your own highest good?
I have been guided to pose this question to clients who are struggling and feeling stuck. Asking this question of your inner wisdom can help shift the lower self’s focus from what it fears will happen toward the potential for great love. We know very well our own tendency to resist what we fear or believe we won’t like. The lower self/ego operate like a scared child, thinking it must protect itself from the dangers of the unknown. The focus then becomes the fear and potential “negative” results. What if I fail the class? What if I end up alone? What if he/she/they are angry with me?
But what about those times when our Soul is guiding us that it’s time to manifest something even the mental body desires, like an exciting new job or a loving relationship? Why do we sometimes still resist even when we consciously believe it will be a positive change? Why do we block what we can clearly see is in our own highest good and, therefore, the most loving thing we could create for ourselves?
Marianne Williamson wrote in A Return To Love a potential answer to that question:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
Take time now to ask yourself, “What is blocking me from surrendering to my own highest good, my own highest potential? What are my biggest blocks to creating the most loving, joyful, vibrant experiences in my life?” When we deny ourselves the wonder and beauty that our Souls desire to create, we are not protecting but rather cutting off parts of ourselves, those wise and loving and powerful aspects. We are made in the image of Love and we are made to reflect that Love in the world. Allow your life to reflect the Love that you are back to you.

This month, I’m guided to share this reprise of a previous post about re-connecting with our origins:
During a lovely vacation in Hawaii, I asked my Soul what primary resonances and energies I should focus on while I was there. The phrase “original source” immediately came to me. I thought about how the land itself feels particularly connected to its origins because of the lava flows coming directly from the Earth’s core in magnificent, fiery fountains and then hardening into solid landmass that can support life. I also connected with the soft, gentleness of the Divine Feminine energy which is so prevalent there, both in the fluidity of the ocean and in the more easeful and welcoming lifestyle of the traditional culture. And then I asked, “What does original source mean for my spiritual evolution?”
In Standing in the Light®, we teach that we are all in the process of coming back into alignment with Source and fully experiencing our Oneness with All That Is. We have never been separate from Source, but we have believed in the illusion of separation for so long that it feels real to us. My ‘original source” feels like my original spark as an individual consciousness, before all the stories and emotions I created about who I think I am. So, by focusing on that origin energy, I was bringing myself back to that basic remembrance.
In the Fall season, we have many rituals that lend themselves to “taking stock” of where we are and where we’re going. We have the energy of going back to school, reviewing what we know and what we will be learning in the coming year. There is also the energy of the harvest and gathering up what we’ve grown to see what we now have to sustain us into the next year. We process the fruits of the harvest and store the seeds for the next growing cycle. These activities have in common the questions of “Where are we now and what is our next step going forward?”
We can make use of the natural energies of this coming season by taking stock of where we are spiritually and bringing awareness to the spiritual basics. What are my priorities? What is my divine truth? If I strip my self-perception down to its essence, who do I believe myself to be? How can I simplify my life back to the basics? Retreats, cleanses and even special meditation techniques can all be useful tools at the right time, but they are still just ways to take us back to the simple remembrance of who we truly are. Who am I in the stillness and what do I know to be true? It really is just that simple when we take a quiet moment and listen.

In a 2017 episode of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday (1), she featured an experiment on self-perception conducted by BuzzFeed. A group of volunteers each stood for a few minutes in front of a two-way mirror sharing their perceptions of themselves while other volunteers secretly hidden behind the mirror were taped sharing how they perceived that person. Then, the participants were shown their particular video with the other volunteers’ comments. Time and again, those features which the participants disliked or doubted about themselves were the ones that others found particularly striking or beautiful.
One volunteer shared that he was self-conscious of his round face, especially his cheeks, yet his nice cheek bones was one of the features that the secret observers said they liked. Another admitted that he didn’t feel particularly manly, yet one observer saw him as definitely masculine and another as a “cool guy”. One volunteer said that she was self-conscious of her dimples, yet one of the observers commented that he really liked her smile, especially her “cute dimples”.
Upon seeing the strangers’ comments about themselves, many of the participants were blown away by the differences between their self-perceptions and the impressions of others. One participant said, “You’re better than who you think you are. And… you’re enough just the way you are. So be kinder to yourself.” This could be a message directly from each person’s Soul.
Marsha Hankins has twice posted a wonderful blog called The Parable of the Cracked Pot about the beauty of a cracked pot that thought it was lesser than others because it was broken. Then the water bearer pointed out that the water it leaked along the path had helped beautiful flowers to grow for others to enjoy. It is the illusion that we are lesser than, wrong or broken. What we perceive as flaws are hidden strengths that are still lost in the illusion. All we need to do is shine our light of awareness to see the truth and beauty of the perfection underneath. What beauty within are you still hiding from yourself and the world?
